NAIDOC Week 2023

As we move through NAIDOC week and beyond, there are some incredible activities, exhibits and opportunities for learning.


Sculpture: Nairm Marr Djambana Gathering Place will unveil a stunning public art installation called “Spirit Dreaming”. Runs through to Saturday 26 August at the Glass Cube outside the Frankston Arts Centre (37 Davey Street). https://www.djambana.org.au/


Photography: Ceberio Johnson is an indigenous, blind photographer and asks his audience to be his eyes. “I take the photo of my moments, then they see the moment for me”. Ceberio presents a series of photographs from a recent trip back to his birthplace in NT from 6 July, 6-8pm, at The FAC Curved Wall (37 Davey Street). Kids Playgroup: The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency’s (VACCA) Koorie Kids Playgroup offers a culturally safe, fun and empowering environment for families of children five years and under at Montague Park Playgroup Hall, Bentley Place in Frankston every Wednesday from 10.30am to 1pm and caters exclusively to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Families. NAIDOC March:

“FOR OUR ELDERS

Join us at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) from 10:00 am. Make your banner for the march, get the kids face painted, and enjoy the entertainment! Vic NAIDOC merchandise will be available to purchase.

The march leaves from VAHS on Nicholson Street, Fitzroy at 12:00 pm. We welcome all people, councils, organisations, and businesses to come and march with us.

We will march past, Fig Tree on top of Gertrude Street, Pastor Sir Doug and Lady Nicholls statue, Parliament House, corner of Bourke & Swanston, corner of Flinders & Swanston Street” Vic NAIDOC Gala Ball:
